Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2 Free on Xbox One with EA Access

Electronic Arts announced today via the official Battlefield Twitter account that two new free games have been added to the EA Access Vault. Both Battlefield 3 (Buy From Amazon) and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (Buy From Amazon) are now free for Xbox One owners and EA Access subscribers. The Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2 free games can be found in the download library and can be added/loaded at anytime. They are only available for EA Access subscribers so technically they aren’t free as EA Access does require a subscription fee but they no longer require a payment for the game itself.

Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 2: Bad Company was originally released in 2011 and 2010 respectively for the Xbox One, PS3, and PC. They were recently made backwards compatible with the Xbox One and are now free to play on Xbox One only. No word on if they will be available for free on the PlayStation 3/4 or PC.

Battlefield 3 is one of the most popular titles in the Battlefield series of multiplayer first person shooter video games. Released in 2011 the game features single player, cooperative and multiplayer game modes. The multiplayer component of Battlefield 3 is the most popular aspect of the game. Players can choose from one of four different roles or soldier classes. Each class includes a different load out of weapons and gear. Game modes include Conquest, Rush, Team Deathmatch and more. There are dozens of maps and environments to play as well.

Released in 2010, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is a sub series to the main Battlefield series. The Bad Company sub-series was unique as they included a full single player story campaign unlike the main Battlefield games of that time. Bad Company 2 puts players into the role of a squad member of the notorious “Bad Company” who are tasked with completing objective based missions. The multiplayer portion of Bad Company 2, like Battlefield 3, is a class based system with four different soldier classes available to play. Both Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2 offer a wide array of drivable vehicles as well.

The Battlefield series of game, is a long running and popular series of video games that have been primarily multiplayer first person shooters. More recent titles have also included a single players story campaign. The series has a total of 11 games and 12 expansion packs released over the years with the latest release being Battlefield 1 (Buy From Amazon). Battlefield: 1942, the first game in the series, was at one time offered for free through EA’s Origin but no longer appears available. There are some third party sites that do offer Battlefield: 1942 for free as well its expansions but the legality of these downloads is unconfirmed. Be sure to take advantage of Battlefield 3 and Bad Company 2 free games as it is unknown if they will remain free forever or for a limited time.
