4D Prince of Persia is a free PC game clone of the classic action/adventure game Prince of Persia by Jordan Mechner. The original Prince of Persia came out in 1989 for the Apple II computer to critical acclaim. It also became a commercial success and the franchise has gone on to see numerous sequels and releases. After it’s release for the Apple II, it was quickly ported to MS-DOS and other systems in 1990. The game has been influential and is play-ability survives today making it a classic adventure video game.
This Prince of Persia remake is a free version that was first released in 1994. It recreates many of the fun and exciting game play elements found in the original. In addition to being a remake, it also contains some unique levels and enemies that are not found in the original.
The storyline in 4D Prince of Persia is similar to the original. In both games, players take on the role of a nameless protagonist who is in love with the Sultan’s daughter. Jaffar, the Sultan’s wizard, has imprisoned the Sultan’s daughter in the Sultan’s dungeons. It is up to the players to rescue the princess. Primary objectives are to escape the dungeon, defeat Jaffar and rescue the princess, all within the 60 minute time limit. As a result the game can be very challenging when time starts to run out. In addition, players also will need to get past various puzzles, obstacles and enemies along the way.
The game is completely free to download and install. However, the legality of this remake is unknown. It is worth noting that the game is an unofficial remake and does use the likeness and similarities of the Prince of Persia.
